The hosts in your network have to use a proxy to connect to
Internet. Good when you got software, like browser, that can be
configure to use that proxy, but what for the shell?
The proxy configuration for a shell is as simple as exporting a
variable:
$ export http_proxy='http://proxy.domain.ext:port'
Done this, you can use CLI tools, like wget or links without problems.
